Silk Screening

Silkscreen Ink Printing

Screen Printing or “Silk Screening” is the process of decorating an item by printing a design in ink, ONE COLOR AT A TIME, through a tight mesh screen. Fine detail and small letters are no problem. Printing pricing is based on the number of colors in your design. Printing on dark colored items is more expensive because it requires a white base undercoat in most cases. The size of the design doesn’t affect the cost, so it’s an economical choice for large designs.

The printmaking technique uses a woven mesh screen to support a design stencil. A squeegee is moved across the screen stencil forcing ink to past the threads of the mesh in the open areas. The stencils’ open areas of mesh transfers ink as a sharp-edged image. Only one color should past through at a time. Another mesh screen should be used to layer the next color of the design. Continue using multiple screens with individual color in each until the desired image is completed on the item.
